Artemisia Gentileschi is one of the most intriguing women of the European Renaissance, possibly one of the most intriguing women ever, but this biographical novel is problematic.

If you are unaware of Artemisia Gentileschi, then I can only say: Baroque Italy at its best and worst. Reading a paragraph is exhausting.

Indeed, she went further: I give it only 3 stars because I was lacking more information about her art work coming from Irving STONE’s biography of Michel Angelo in “The Agony and the Ecstasy” The Agony and the Ecstasy ; such a masterpiece is difficult to be surpassed… ; I didn’t like the aartemisia details of the plot leading up to the rape, the length of report of the process alexandrx its aftermath which in total takes pages, almost half of the book!
