This was dissapointing because The theoretical part of the book did not move me so much.
Covers elder and Viking runes, and leads us to the contemporary runic revival. The book is an interesting mixture of objective fact, and personal experience; and like most real “magical” books, gives one a peek into the psyche of the author. This is an excellent starting position for anyone interested in the runes, and it reads very complimentarily with his other great work, “Runelore. I don’t have the experience or the lore to pass a true judgment on whether or not it “works” to alter consciousness in the way of other magical systems.
Thorsson knows a fair bit about what he’s doing. After reading it all the way through, I’ve gone back and read over the rune descriptions several times since and still find it useful, even if only from my ‘limited’, mostly objective perspective. Get to Know Us.
