It went ok for about pages and then became a long, boring slog until the last 50 pages or so, where the big reveal scene was so lopsidedly OTT WTF compared to the rather staid historical that came before it.
Without the bodice-ripper, we would not have woodiqiss more socially acceptable versions being written now.

Thanks for telling us about the problem. The book follows Alaina, her adventures and her thoughts much more kathleen than Cole’s, all in the context of the American Civil War. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. The first publisher on her list, Avon, quickly purchased the novel and arranged an initialprint run. He doesn’t really pony up for me until the end, where it seems too little too late. I have been a Kathleen Woodiwiss fan since the first book of hers that I picked up over 30 years ago and I believe I have read every book she has written.

It is a magnificent love story, well told with great plot twists and accurate history of the era, woven in so that you understand what is going on in the Civil War. By this time, more allegations against Alaina MacGaren wnd as she’s unjustly branded a spy, traitor and murderer by both the North and South. And if that was not enough, she nearly scalded him again, this time with a steaming towel still dripping wet from the kettle.

My heart broke when she passed away a couple of years ago because I knew there would never again be another new Woodiwiss to snuggle into a chair with and read for hours. You won’t regret reading this one–it’s a keeper! Did the passage wooriwiss time and my tastes that have changed over the years lessen the magic of their romantic story?
Reading it was definitely a labor of love for me.
